But even a journey that is short by southern Russian standards needs a named driver, a set departure time and a parking space.

Mountain Guide starts the programme in Terskol and can confirm local services. A direct departure from Stavropol is either operated by a named regional carrier or made by the travellers in their own cars. Until we have a regular service of our own, we cannot write “transfer from Stavropol included”.

Why two days really can be sold here

The main advantage is being able to arrive by Saturday morning without flying. For a confident skier, two days on the snow and one night can be enough. The main set of equipment is already included, so there is no need to load the car with ski bags.

A beginner is still better off with three days or an extra Friday night. Fitting the equipment, the introductory lesson and settling in do not get any faster because the city is close.

Your own car: the morning starts the day before

Check the state of the road and the forecast, not just the average journey time.

Identify a driver who is not going to spend the whole night without rest.

Confirm parking at the chosen property.

Know where and when the equipment is handed over.

Set the return departure with a margin after the equipment is returned.

Do not plan alcohol and a night drive after skiing.

A satnav does not allow for rest, winter traffic or changing conditions. Mountain Guide does not guarantee journey times. If the driver is tired, an extra night costs less than the risk.

A group minibus

A group can charter its own vehicle from a confirmed carrier. What is needed is the number of people, the luggage, the pick-up addresses, child seats, the time and the plan for the return. A single common pick-up point reduces both the cost and the risk of delay.

A regular shared service is not the same as a charter. A shared service has a minimum group size and cancellation rules; a charter has a fixed price for the vehicle. These two models are not mixed together on a product card.

The two-day scenario, decision by decision

Stage

What we confirm

Margin

By Friday

Room, equipment, driver, instructor

Everyone has the contact details

Saturday morning

Arrival, handover, official status

Do not start without fitting the equipment

Saturday evening

Drying, storage, the return time

Fix any boarding issues before Sunday

Sunday

The last lift and the return of equipment

Do not drive straight home if the driver is tired

The three-day scenario

Friday is used for the first outing or for organisational preparation. Saturday and Sunday remain full days. For a group of mixed ability this is the main product: beginners can be handed over to an instructor while the independent skiers are not held back in the learning area.

The enhanced working price from RUB 22,100 contains an estimated MRV transfer, which for a car coming directly from Stavropol is replaced by the actual transport rate. The ground component is recalculated before payment.

Rental: less luggage, more discipline on the form

An adult main set is counted at RUB 1,800 per calendar day and a child’s set at RUB 1,200. For two days that is RUB 3,600 and for three days RUB 5,400. This price is valid until 31 May 2027.

The advantage of living close by is lost if the form has not been filled in and Saturday morning goes on hunting for the right size. A booking is made once the details have been checked and a deposit paid.

A beginner from Stavropol

For the “Beginner” version a helmet, goggles and an accredited instructor are booked. The working guide price for the two-day version is about RUB 14,900 and for the three-day version RUB 29,500, but the lesson rate is confirmed separately.

Being close by is no reason to look for an instructor on arrival. Ask at least five days ahead, and ten over the holidays. Ability, discipline and a child’s age are given at the outset.

The lift pass and official status

The lift pass is bought separately. Check the official tariff and ask your instructor which access you need. An open lift does not mean that every piste is open.

On the day of departure the statuses are checked again. A closed zone does not entitle anyone to ski off-piste. Refund rules for the lift pass are set by the resort.

Families and children

For a child you need the equipment measurements, a helmet, a suitable lesson and a realistic idea of how long the day will be. The parent knows the meeting point and stays contactable. A child discount is calculated from the actual difference in rental and accommodation.

Official family facilities are checked before the trip. An age promise on a tour page is no substitute for a specialist’s assessment and the rules of the particular area.

Working with Stavropol agents

Two- and three-day trips are easier for an agent to sell, because the client can arrange the journey locally. Standard commission is 7% for two days and 10% for three. The organiser of a closed group of eight or more may receive 12% once the economics have been checked.

The partner code is recorded with the order and in the UTM link. It does not reserve equipment sizes and is not combined with a returning-client discount. Commission is paid on the amount received and not refunded.

When a week is still the right choice

If a group wants to learn at a relaxed pace, vary the effort and avoid getting behind the wheel straight after two days, the week remains a strong holiday format. The price from RUB 54,200 includes seven calendar days of rental.

Having your own car makes it easy to add a night after Sunday. That option is confirmed subject to availability and is especially useful for the driver.

What the confirmation sets out

The dates of the ground trip.

The specific property and room.

What the equipment sets contain.

Direct transport or your own arrival.

Instructor and protective equipment.

Price, deadlines and cancellation.

The start and finish point in Terskol.

In short: Stavropol is the prime region for an honest two-day offer, but only when the Friday logistics and the driver’s rest have been sorted out.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a transfer straight from Stavropol?

It can be quoted for a group with a confirmed carrier. A direct service is not automatically part of the basic published price.

Can I come just for Saturday and Sunday?

Yes. It is better to arrive in advance or to agree the morning handover precisely.

Where do I leave the car?

Parking is confirmed by the property you choose. Do not assume a free space without an answer.

Is rental included?

Yes, an adult or child main set, once the form has been completed.

What should a beginner choose?

Three days, or two days with a Friday night and an instructor booked in advance.

What to check before you set off

Mountain infrastructure and conditions change. No article replaces checking which pistes are open, whether the lifts are running, the weather and any restrictions immediately before the trip.

Official information about the journey

Piste statuses

The instructor service

Choosing a programme

First choose the length and the date. Before payment we confirm the accommodation, the rental set and every additional service ordered. The main set of skis or snowboard is counted for each calendar day of the programme.

A 2-day trip for guests from Stavropol

The more dependable 3-day trip

The week-long programme

For a quotation, give the dates, the number of guests, the ages of any children, skiing ability, height, weight and boot size. You can send an enquiry through Mountain Guide contacts.

Stavropol as a test market for the two-day trip

If we want to understand demand for the shortest product, the Stavropol region is the logical place to start: the journey is shorter and the client does not need to fly. A test campaign leads to the two-day product card and asks only for the date, the number of people, ability and transport.

Enquiries for driving themselves and for a group minibus are then compared. If most people ask for transport, we look for one proven partner and launch a date, rather than promising a regular service in advance.

Two drivers or an extra night

A group travelling by car decides in advance who will drive home. If one driver skis both days, their fatigue can be considerable. A relief driver, or a night after Sunday, are real safety measures.

An extra night is confirmed at least a week ahead, and earlier over the holidays. It is charged separately and does not extend the rental once the equipment has been returned.

A single common pick-up point

For a minibus, one point reduces lateness. Travellers are given the location, the time and the maximum waiting time. Collection from home addresses is possible only after a separate quotation.

Drop-off on the return is arranged the same way. The driver does not change the route at one passenger’s request if that affects the others.

Arriving in the morning, and breakfast

Breakfast is not part of the basic two-day package. The group needs to know where and when it will eat before skiing. Meals can be ordered in advance; a spontaneous stop must not keep the instructor waiting.

The three-day enhanced package allows for two costed breakfasts. The supplier and the rate are confirmed before the price is set.

Stavropol schools, clubs and corporate groups

Besides agencies, there is potential in sports clubs, corporate organisers and student societies. They are offered a closed date, the ground package and transport by quotation — but a casual activity is not described to them as a children’s trip with no requirements attached.

Minors need contracts, accompanying adults and rules. An ordinary partner code does not settle the legal organisation of a group.

How to cost a vehicle from Stavropol

You need the full return rate, the capacity and the charge for waiting. The price is divided among the confirmed travellers, with a reserve kept in case someone drops out under the terms. The MRV rate must not be used as a substitute.

For a closed group, transport goes into a single quotation. For individual enquiries it is a separate option until a shared service exists.

A city landing page that is not a doorway

It explains why two days genuinely work from here.

It shows three transport models.

It publishes no unconfirmed timetable.

It contains a detailed plan for the driver and for parking.

It leads to the 2-, 3- and 7-day products by meaning.

It captures the city and the transport choice in the form.

Material like that has value in its own right and is not simply a template with the name of a city swapped in.

The first KPI

For a test, ten confirmed enquiries or one closed group is enough. We measure the cost per lead, the share of requests for transport, rental sizes and the actual margin. Then we decide whether a regular service is needed.

A weekend without night-time heroics

Even a relatively close city does not make an overnight drive safe by default. If the driver has worked all day, it is better to travel earlier or to stay the night. That is part of the budget.

Mountain Guide does not assess a driver’s condition, but it does offer an extra night and confirmed transport.

A minibus for one group

A closed group chooses one pick-up point, receives the full price for the vehicle and splits it between the travellers. One person dropping out does not reduce the carrier’s rate.

For children, child seats and luggage are notified in advance.

The local agency database

Priority goes to domestic-tourism offices, clubs and charter coach operators. A large franchise may only be allowed to sell its own catalogue, so it is checked before the mailing.

A contact from 2GIS is enriched with the website, email, role and the date of the call.

The price of direct transport

Until a rate has been obtained, the page carries no “from Stavropol” figure. It shows the ground price and a quotation form. That prevents false expectations.

Once there is a contract, a product variant by date or a separate additional service can be created.

The threshold for a regular service

Steady enquiries for two adjacent dates.

A confirmed carrier.

A clear minimum group size.

A deadline that does not clash with the hotel’s.

Margin after commission.

One person responsible for boarding.

Until those thresholds are met, we sell a chartered vehicle or self-drive arrival.

An example of a Stavropol weekend

Four confident skiers arrive on Friday evening, check in for an extra night, collect equipment allocated to them in the morning and finish on Sunday with time in hand before the drive. They need no instructor and travel in their own car.

Their price is made up of the two-day base, the Friday night and any parking. That is the target scenario for the product.

If two of them turn out to be beginners, a lesson, helmets, goggles and an earlier handover are added. The group can keep to two days, but only once those resources have been confirmed.

How to organise a ski weekend on Elbrus from Stavropol: 2 or 3
