This tour of Ethiopia combines the Omo valley and the Danakil Depression, two worlds that are rarely seen on one trip. The first part is devoted to the Dorze, Konso, Hamer, Karo, Dassanech, Arbore, Ari and Mursi communities; the second to the salt flats, Dallol, Erta Ale and the harsh landscapes of the Afar region.<\/p>\n
This is an expedition route with domestic flights, four-wheel-drive vehicles, heat, dust and simple overnight stays. Actual access to Danakil and to the volcanic areas depends on permits, on security, on the state of the roads and on the decisions of the local authorities.<\/p>\n
With a group of four participants or more a Mountain Guide team leader accompanies the trip. Access to Danakil is confirmed only after security and permits have been checked.<\/p>\n
