The Tinder Tour on Elbrus is a nine-day ascent for people who want not only to climb the highest summit in Europe but also to meet a new group. Here a swipe right is replaced by a step upwards, the filters stay in the valley, and at altitude it quickly becomes clear who can offer support, keep their sense of humour and share the last bar of chocolate.<\/p>\n
The only compulsory match is with the health and fitness requirements. Romance, friendship and staying in touch after the tour remain the personal choice of the participants. Nobody is obliged to flirt, to go on a date or to return anyone’s interest. The guide leads the ascent, not the group’s private life.<\/p>\n
We do not promise an equal number of men and women, we do not sort participants into pairs and we do not match people by compatibility questionnaires. Some people come looking for love, some for friends and like-minded company, and some simply want to climb Elbrus in cheerful company. All of those aims are entirely normal.<\/p>\n
What there will be is plenty of chance to get to know each other naturally. Shared acclimatisation hikes, the climb to the Pastukhov Rocks, evenings at the hotel and in the shelter, preparing equipment and a long day at altitude introduce people far better than three messages of chat. At 4700 m it no longer matters much who wrote first. And everyone will have crampons — the mountaineering kind.<\/p>\n
Despite the light-hearted name, the ascent remains a serious high-altitude trip. The group’s main task is to acclimatise properly, prepare and travel the route safely. The weather, the state of the slope and the condition of the participants always come before romance, good photographs and the wish to reach the summit at any cost.<\/p>\n
The group is accompanied by Mountain Guide’s guides. The lead guide works with participants throughout the trip, and assistant guides join for summit day. The ratio is strict — no more than three participants to one guide.<\/p>\n
The number of group attempts on the trip is not limited: if the weather or the condition of the whole group prevented the ascent, the reserve day can be used at no extra charge. But even the best match with Elbrus is no guarantee of the summit — the final decision on setting out and on continuing the route is taken by the lead guide.<\/p>\n
In the valley participants stay at our comfortable hotel, and the high-altitude section is spent in the equipped shelter on the slope of Elbrus. Full meals, the services of a cook, individual beds, bed linen and an organised routine mean you can discuss your impressions instead of arguing over the last mug of hot water.<\/p>\n
The clothing, boots and mountaineering equipment you need can be booked from an equipment-hire supplier in advance, so you can come without a kit of your own. The main thing is to send your sizes ahead. Love at first sight does not always happen, but properly fitted boots are needed from day one.<\/p>\n
Perhaps you will go home as a couple. Perhaps as a group of friends already discussing the next trip. Or perhaps the main romance of the trip will turn out to be your relationship with the mountains. Either way, this holiday will not be dull.<\/p>\n
