Ismoil Somoni Peak (Communism Peak) is the highest mountain in Tajikistan and the former Soviet Union (7495 m).
\nFirst established in 1928, the mountain was previously identified with Garmo Peak, but as a result of the work of European Soviet expeditions, by 1932 it became clear that this was not the same thing, and in 1933 a new peak from the ridge of the Academy of Sciences was named Stalin Peak in honor of Joseph Stalin.
\nIn 1962, the name changed to Communism Peak, and in 1998 to the current name.
\nThe first ascent to Communism Peak was lost in 1933 by the Soviet climber Yevgeny Abalakov
\nCommunism Peak is the highest peak on the territory of the former USSR. Located in the northwestern part of the Pamirs. The capital of Tajikistan – Dushanbe – the point of departure of the expedition. The most convenient approach option is to arrive in Dushanbe by international flights. The option of arriving in Dushanbe from Tashkent (via Samarkand) is suitable for those who want, after the completion of the expedition, an excursion program to the world-famous sights of Samarkand. There is currently only one way to get from Dushanbe to Communism Peak Base Camp – by helicopter.
\nAt the present time, it is not possible to cross on foot along the route that was possible several years ago due to the difficulty of the transition. There are two options to get to the Communism Peak Base Camp on the Moskvin Glade: directly from Dushanbe or by car from Djirgital and then by air.
\nThe base camp is located at an altitude of 4200 m above sea level, at the confluence of the Valter and Moskvin glaciers (the eastern branches of the Fortambek glacier).
\nThis is the most convenient and safest starting point for climbing the peaks of Communism and Korzhenevskaya because of the shorter approaches. After landing at the Base Camp, we recommend that you make a wonderful 2-4 day trek across the Fortambek glacier to the Suloev\u0430 glade. This will provide an opportunity to see and enjoy the views of such giants of the Pamirs as the peak of Russia, the peak of Moscow, the glacier Tramplinnyi- the source of the incessant avalanches. Vorobyov Peak (5691 m) and Chetyreh Peak (6299 m) are very often used for acclimatization. They are located very close to the Base Camp.
\nYou can climb Vorobyov Peak in one day, Peak Four – in 2-3 days. Two peaks – Vorobyov and Chetyreh have many points of view. Fantastic panoramas of the surrounding peaks open before you, especially the highest of them: the peaks of Communism and Korzhenevskaya. It should be taken into account that the height of the peak of Communism is higher than 7000 m, which means high-altitude ascent. The route to the summit is technically challenging, and factors such as unpredictable weather and altitude can make all the difference in the success or failure of your expedition. For a successful expedition you need: good physical preparation, necessary equipment and proper acclimatization.<\/p>\n
