The route takes in waterfalls, fir forest, alpine meadows and mountain lakes, and gives a first taste of a self-sufficient walking trip without any technical mountaineering.<\/p>\n<p>It suits active beginners who are ready to walk for several hours a day, to carry personal kit and an agreed share of the group load, to live in a tent and to take rain, wet boots and the absence of a coffee machine on the pass in their stride.<\/p>\n<p>Families can take part with children from 2 years old, provided a fit adult carries the child in a child-carrier pack. This is a family format, not a promise that a two-year-old will walk the pass unaided; the adult&#8217;s load and the composition of the group are always discussed before booking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>During the tented section participants carry personal equipment and an agreed share of the food and group kit<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The route over the pass depends on snow conditions and on the actual weather<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A child of 2 years or older needs a suitable child-carrier pack and an adult ready to carry the extra weight for the whole walking
