The main route is ridden on Royal Enfield motorcycles with a local road captain, a mechanic and a support vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Three lengths are available. The eight-day Ladakh Classic covers Leh, Nubra, Turtuk and Pangong. The fourteen-day Greater Ladakh adds Hanle, a conditional run to Umling La, Tso Moriri and Tso Kar. The sixteen-day version finishes with a ride down the Indus valley to Alchi and Lamayuru.<\/p>\n<p>This is a high-altitude motorcycle tour of moderate difficulty, not a ride on tarmac. Road surfaces, weather and the state of the passes all change, so the route calls for discipline, confident control of the motorcycle and a willingness to follow the road captain&#8217;s decisions. The minimum age for a pillion participant is 14.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important: the 48-hour rule in Leh<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The first 48 hours after arrival in Leh are given to rest and quiet acclimatisation. Until that period is complete we do not ride to high passes and do not begin long stages<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The minimum age for a participant is 14. The 14-plus figure applies to riding pillion; only a participant with the necessary driving documents may ride a motorcycle<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>High-altitude sections are ridden only where the road is open, the permits are valid, the weather is suitable and the participant is well<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not a formality but a required part of the route and of its safety. The official Ladakh tourism service likewise requires at least 48 hours of acclimatisation after arrival in
