About the tour

The Amazon basin is located in South America, the countries that are located in this region include; Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Brazil. A trip to the Amazon will be an unforgettable and unique experience that will be full of impressions and adventures. Each of you will have the opportunity to be the protagonist of this trip and experience a special excitement. You will experience a unique space and a special experience, as the trip takes place in the region of the planet with the largest “concentration” of biodiversity in the world

For those who are travelling on a full program the optimal route is Moscow Istanbul Panama with Turkish Airlines. It is possible to make a stopover in Istanbul. For those who will join in part 1 of the trip optimal flight by Turkish to Istanbul and from there the complicated route IST PTY (Istanbul Panama) and back GRU IST (São Paulo Istambul). For those who will join in the second part of the trip, fly to São Paulo and depart from Panama. The point of departure/arrival to/from São Paulo is Manaus, those still have a São Paulo Manaus one way ticket.

The journey consists of two parts:
Part 1. Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Brazil. Amazon jungle and tribes. Travelling along the Napo River and the Amazon. Iquitos, Leticia, Manaus, the treasures of Ataulpa and the shamanic traditions of the Amazon. Thermal springs and wildlife. Paradise Caribbean archipelago of San Blas (Guna Yala).

Part 2. Brazil, Venezuela, Panama. Manaus. The Lost World of Roraima. La sabana grande and the waterfalls of Canaima. Travelling by river to Angel, the highest waterfall in the world, some of the most beautiful Caribbean islands, the unique archipelago of Bocas del Toro

Travel program

Part 1. Panami, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Brazil.
Day 1.
Arrival at Tocumen airport (Panama City). Transfer to the centre (about one hour), settlement. Walk around the colonial centre. Dinner and instructing the group. Overnight at the hotel.
Meals not included.
Day 2. Early rise and at 5:00 departure to San Blas Archipelago (Guna Yala). This is one of the few remaining, virtually untouched places in the Caribbean, over 300 “postcard” Caribbean islands and water in all shades of blue. We will call at the nearby Cayos Limones islands, but the main route is to the most “offshore” islands of the Archipelago and its jewel, Cayos Holandeses. We will spend the night on a small Caribbean island.
Accommodation: Tent on remote islands or bungalow on an island with a hotel.
Meals: Full board included, self-cooked meals on the island.
Day 3. We call at a few more islands (Cayos Limon) and by lunchtime we return to the harbour and leave for the airport. After a short flight we land at Mariscal Sucre Airport, Quito, the capital city of Ecuador. Departure is around 19:00, landing 21:30. After passport control and customs formalities, we will transfer (one hour drive) to Papallacta thermal springs, located at an altitude of 3200 metres. Settlement. Thermal water pools on the hotel grounds near the rooms plus two common areas with numerous pools with water of different temperatures and SPA. Excellent restaurant with local and European food at the hotel. Holidays.

Day 4. After breakfast and visit to the SPA area with thermal water of different temperatures, at around 11 in the afternoon departure (3 hours) to Tena, the capital of Napo province. A short sightseeing tour of the city, transfer (30 minutes) to Waira Pungo (which means Wind Gate in Kichwa Indian language, a beautiful place with unforgettable views). Settlement. Drive (15 minutes) to Laguna Azul, the place where the Guayusa Yacu (with a beautiful canyon and lagoons for swimming ) flows into the Napo River. Mesmerising views. Opportunity to taste the famous Amazonian delicacy, kebabs made of Chontacuros caterpillars in an Indian commune. Return to Waira Pungo. MYSTIC welcome ceremony, dinner around the campfire. Hosts are a very interesting couple who have been living in the jungle for over 10 years, searching for Atahualpa’s treasure, the largest treasure in human history. Relevant stories attached. Exotic fruits. Rest and at 2:00 am we leave for Coca, Puerto Francisco Orellana, the last major population centre downstream of the Napo River. The journey takes about 3 hours.

The start of a week-long journey along the Napo River to the Amazon and the city of Iquitos. For a week we say goodbye to civilisation. The Amazon jungle, Yasuni Park, one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet, Guarani, Kichwa, Secoya tribes, small villages, wild animals and unique Amazonian nature, traditions and rituals are waiting for us.
Accommodation: tents and where possible affordable hotels.
Meals: Full board to Iquitos including refreshments.
Day 5. Morning departure from Coca by land to the Chiripuno River. Two hour journey. Arrival, document check and talk about ecology in Yasuni National Park and Guarani Reserve. Then breakfast and departure to our boat for a float trip on the Chiripuno River, during which we will be able to enjoy the beauty of the Amazon jungle and see different species of birds and animals. Later we will arrive at a Guarani community where we will learn about their traditions, culture and way of life, before having lunch in the community and travelling down the river to a place called Chiparo where we will camp. We will then do some sport fishing for piranha as well as other fish species and have dinner for the night. Later we will go caiman and other nocturnal animal watching and then return to camp for rest.
Day 6. At 5:30am we will go for dawn watching in the jungle as well as many birds. Then breakfast and we will start hiking through the jungle with young and old Guarani warriors to learn about different medicinal, food, woody, poisonous and hallucinogenic plants as well as the largest tree in the Amazon. It should be noted that they will also show their agility and skill in the jungle. After the walk, we will return to the camp for lunch and then we can watch the extraction of curare, a poison used by the indigenous people to hunt and defend their territories. We will then have lunch and watch a traditional Guarani dance, say goodbye to the community and start our drive back to Coca. In the evening we will arrive in Coca and check in at the Hotel Coca. Then dinner and free time.
Day 7. 05 am. Travelling by boat from Coca on the Napo River, one of the largest tributaries of the Amazon River. We arrive in Anyango to observe the feeding of parrots and parakeets, then we will visit the Kichua Amazonica cultural quinta to learn their traditional culture and way of life and enjoy the exotic cuisine of the Amazon. Breakfast at the aforementioned location, then we bid farewell to the community and continue sailing. Lunch at noon, later we arrive in Nuevo Rocafuerte, after a short visit we continue our journey and arrive at the mouth of the Yasuni River and swim this river to reach Jatun Cocha, the largest lake of the Ecuadorian part of the Amazon. We camp on the shores of the lake and then set off to explore the lake where we can enjoy the geographical landscape, floating islands, Amazonian mangroves, and various species of birds, monkeys, giant otters. Return to camp for dinner and later we go for a walk around the lake to watch the caimans. Return to camp for rest.
Day 8. 07:00 am. Breakfast, then we will start trekking through the jungle of Yasuni National Park to learn the different species of animals and plants, visit an animal saltbox where many animals gather to eat mineral salt, and learn jungle survival techniques. Return to camp, lunch, farewell to the Yasuni National Park and go to the Cuyabeno Faunal Breeding Reserve, sail on the Yasuni River, arrive in Nuevo Rocafuerte where we will register our passports to get permission to leave Ecuador, then we will sail on the Napo River to the mouth of the Aguarico River, sail on this river and reach the small Cocaia River, then we will stay in the cabins of Yaku Huarmi. After that we will go out to watch the pink dolphins, in this place tourists can feed the dolphins with their hands, swim with them and catch piranhas. Return to the cabins for dinner, then we will take a night walk to observe nocturnal animals, insects, tarantulas, amphibians, reptiles, etc. Return to the cabins, a talk from the guide about the myths and legends of the Amazon and rest.
Day 9. 06:00 am. Departure to observe the feeding site of Ara, parrots, monkeys and other animal species. Then return to the cottages for breakfast, after which we will go on a jungle walk to discover the flora and fauna of the Cuyabeno National Reserve. After lunch, return to the cottages. We then prepare to travel to Pantoja, the first Peruvian border town. Upon arrival in this town, we will head to the Peruvian Migration Service office to register our passports and obtain our Peruvian entry permit. After a short visit to this town, we will continue travelling along the Napo River within Peru. As we travel, we will see the different indigenous communities along the Napo River. Upon arrival at the small Santa Maria River, we will follow the river to reach the indigenous community of Secoya. It is worth noting that this indigenous people are characterised by a great knowledge of shamanism and perform a ceremony using ayawaska. We will pitch our tents in the community, have dinner, then we will have a shamanic ceremony using ayawaska and rest.
Day 10. 06:00 am: We will start our canoe trip on the Santa Maria River, using traditional canoes of the Secoya culture to observe birds and other animal species. Afterwards, we will return to the community, have breakfast and learn about the traditions of the culture and lifestyle of the local people. We will also see how casava, an Amazonian pizza, is made, how the young shoots of the chonta kuros or mayo palm are extracted, and hear stories and tales about their culture. At the end, we will be presented with a farewell dance and we will continue our journey with lunch at noon. During the day, we will continue sailing and by evening we will arrive in Santa Clotilde where we will stay at a hotel, later for dinner and rest.
Day 11. 06:00 AM. Breakfast. We continue our journey. At noon we arrive in Mazan, lunch at this place. Then we take a motorbike and after 10 minutes we arrive at the Amazon River, where we board a fast boat and sail for 45 minutes on the biggest river in the world to reach the city of Iquitos. Hotel in the city centre.
Accommodation: double occupancy, upgrade to single occupancy if possible

Day 12. Iquitos and surroundings. Optional trip to the Jaguar tribe famous for their Kambo ceremony, with a frog. This healing remedy is believed to help boost the immune system.

Day 13. Early departure with sunrise. We will travel 500 kilometres along the Amazon by road boat (crossing about 12 hours) to the “triple” border, the place where Peru (Santa Rosa), Colombia (Leticia) and Brazil (Tabatinga) border each other. Settlement in Leticia (the southernmost city in Colombia), the border with Brazil runs right through the city.

Day 14. Cross the border into Brazil and fly from Tabatinga to Manaus, the largest city on the Amazon. Check-in at the hotel.

Part 2. Brazil, Venezuela, Panama, Manuas. Lost World of Roraima

Day 1: Manaus, historical centre. History of the city. Port. Crossing of the Amazon by ferry, the width of the river here leaves about 12 kilometres, near the city the Amazon merges with the Rio Negro and after the merge for a long time you can still see the border of water of different colours. This day arrives only those participating in the second part of the program.(suitable flight from San Paolo arrives in Manaus 25 at 0:10 am).

Day 2. Airport Departure. Flight to San Paolo or Rio de Janeiro (with possible stopover) or fly to Boa Vista and drive to the Venezuelan border, to the town of Santa Elena de Uraire to continue the program in Venezuela.  Arrival in Santa Elena.

Day 3. Start Trek to Roraima. We will drive from Santa Elena de Huiren to Paray Tepui for an almost 14-hour trek to reach our first base camp, located at 1050 metres above sea level. Our guide and porters will setting up the camp for a nice dinner at the foot of Mount Roraima. (5 hours trekking, full meals).
Accommodation: double tents included, single tents with extra charge
Meals: Full board until the end of the tour on Roraima.
Day 4. Today we will trek 9km to Roraima base camp, located at 1850 metres above sea level. Enjoy breathtaking views of the mountain walls and a refreshing swim in the river near the camp. (About 5 hours trekking, full meals.)
Day 5. We will have a steep hike of about 3 hours (1.5km) through the jungle as we reach the summit of the Lost World (2800m above sea level). In the afternoon, you will enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding area with its interesting rock forms formed by erosion over 2 billion years. We will spend the next 2 nights in tents in one of the highest hollows of Roraima.
Day 6. We will explore the fantastic land at the top of Mount Roraima, a massive plateau 45 kilometres long and 20 kilometres wide. We will visit the Valley of Crystals where we will find strange and beautiful quartz stones, we will also see the Gran Sabana window and Kukenan Tepui. A refreshing bathing in a natural Jacuzzi with red, sandy and golden hues in its waters awaits us. We will relax and prepare for the descent, which will take 7 hours. We will spend the night in tents placed in a natural cave.
Day 7. Today we will descend 10.5 kilometres and spend about 7 hours to the Tek River, enjoying one of the last views of the walls of Roraima.
Day 8. We will walk about 4 hours to Parai Tepui where we will be picked up to take us back to Santa Elena. Dinner and overnight in a comfortable posada hotel with bedrooms and private bathroom.
Day 9. Transfer by car from Santa Elena to Urairen along the Sabana Grande (one of the most beautiful parts of Venezuela) to Puerto Ordaz and after an overnight stay fly early morning to Canaima and start the tour to Angel, the highest waterfall in the world.
Accommodation: single occupancy.

Day 10. Angel Falls, Expedition 4 days / 3 nights This highest waterfall in the world, with a height of 979 metres, is the dream of every experienced traveller around the world. Join a real expedition and experience the dense jungle, Tepui, untouched nature and unique landscapes. Venezuela’s most famous attraction and one of the best places in South America, this is a destination not to be missed! Our adventure will start in the Canaima Lake area, from where you can see a group of four different waterfalls known as Hacha, Vadaima, Ucaima and Golondrina. You will be taken across the lake and guided along the pink sandy shores up through the jungle to the majestic Sapo Falls. We will travel by motorised canoe along the Carrao and Churun rivers towards the spectacular Angel Falls. During the four-hour journey along the rivers, you will have time to admire the lush landscapes and fantastic Tepui before enjoying a light picnic afterwards.
Accommodation: Overnight stay in hammocks in front of Angel Falls.
Meals: Full board
Day 11. Enjoy a delicious breakfast with a beautiful view of Angel Falls. At Devil’s Canyon, you will see the waterfall falling for almost 1 km from the top of Auyang Tepui Mountain and flowing into the Churun River. From this point, you will walk through the jungle for about an hour (4.1 km) to the Laime viewpoint and then descend to the water bodies near the base of the waterfall. If you are lucky, you will be able to swim in the fresh water of Angel Falls. We will return to our camp for lunch and rest the rest of the day. Overnight stay in hammocks. (We may make changes to this plan due to natural conditions, better logistics, flight delays, etc.). Hike to Angel Falls: 4.1 km one way / 35-45 degree elevation gain / 90% humidity. Blankets are provided in hammocks, bathroom shared, showers available6 electricity generator from 18:00 to 21:00, no wifi. The hike to Angel Falls is on a trail in dense jungle with sand, wet rocks and roots. There is only one way to get there.
Accommodation: Overnight stay in hammocks in front of Angel Falls.
Meals: Full board.
Day 12. After breakfast and coffee at camp we will set off on our return journey to Kanaima.
Accommodation: Base hotel with double occupancy.

Day 13. After breakfast and coffee at camp you will have a few hours free time in the village of Canaima Lagoon before your final flight over the jungle to Caracas. Lunch and dinner are not included. There are no activities provided today. Flights depart around 10:30am and 12:30pm. Check-in must be done 2 hours prior to departure. Lunch and dinner are not included. Flight from Caracas to Panama City (16:09 17:35). Transfer and settlement in Panama City Centre.

An option to increase the journey by 3 nights but allowing a visit to the Bocas del Toro Archipelago, a fabulous Caribbean Archipelago. It is possible to shorten the program for these days (then the total cost of the program or the second part of it will be reduced).
Flight from Caracas to Panama ( 16:09 17:35).
Arrival at the airport Tocumen (Panama City). Transfer to the centre (about one hour), walk around the colonial centre.
Accommodation: Single rooms.

Day 14. Flight to Bocas del Toro, Fokker 150 aircraft. Hotel in the centre of the capital of the Archipelago, Bocas Town. Familiarisation with the town and the surrounding area.
Accommodation: single room.
Meals: breakfast.
Day 15. Transfer to the hotel in nature, on the beach. Further familiarisation with the archipelago and its islands. Island of red frogs. Motorboat trip around the archipelago.
Accommodation: single room.
Meals: breakfast.
Day 16. Explore the beaches of the central island by scooter, trip to the outer beaches.
Accommodation: single room.
Meals: breakfast.
Day 17. Fly back to Panama (arriving at 15:30) and fly to Istanbul in the evening.

  • Tickets for excursions according to the program.
  • Accommodation in hotels or in a tent camp according to the program. Basic accommodation is double, in some hotels single.
