August 24th 2014 – Vitaly Shkhel made an Elbrus speed record in a new discipline – climbing West summit of Elbrus (5642m) from Azau (2350m) up and down in 4.39.17, while the way up took him 3.28.41 (according to www.Russianclimb.com)
The weather was fine and quiet, except of the summit part.
The current speed record on Elbrus belongs to Andrzej Bargel (Poland) – 3.23.37 made in 2010 on International Elbrus Race
We’ve been climbing there by ourselves while Vitaly was running, so were able to make some pictures of Elbrus Champion.
