Angola 4×4: Iona, Namibe, Tundavala and the Road to the Zambezi Source

Southern Angola in its own right, without a pointless return to Luanda: Iona, Namibe, the Serra da Leba, Tundavala and a rare overland finish across the border.

A guaranteed Mountain Guide group departure is scheduled. The route is published in a working edition. The price and the exact composition of services will be added once the accommodation, the permits and the local team have been confirmed.

Important: the eastern part of the road route and the overland exit from Angola into Zambia remain conditional until the road, the border and vehicle admission have been checked in the field.

Day 1.

Arrival in Lubango, a safety briefing and a check of the two vehicles.

Day 2.

Tundavala and the Lubango highlands.

Day 3.

The Serra da Leba and the descent to Namibe.

Day 4.

The desert landscapes of Namibe, and Tchitundo-Hulo only with an authorised guide.

Day 5.

Entry into Iona and the first landscape and game-viewing day.

Day 6.

Iona: a full off-road day.

Day 7.

Iona to Namibe: a second route chosen according to the actual state of the roads.

Day 8.

The return through the Serra da Leba to Lubango.

Day 9.

The transfer to Huambo with natural stops.

Day 10.

Huambo to Kuito: the central plateau.

Day 11.

Kuito to Luena: a long but logical transit.

Day 12.

The Luena area and the source of the Zambezi, if access is confirmed.

Day 13.

Luena to Cazombo: the remote eastern section.

Day 14.

Caripande and Chavuma: a border day with no night driving.

Day 15.

Mwinilunga to Solwezi, the end of the trip and the connection to the next route in the sequence.
