The trip starts in Lusaka and ends at Mfuwe airport. A domestic flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe is planned on day 11; replacing this section with an overland journey is not part of the main plan. The final offer will specify whether the flight is included in the package and its cost.
Four nights in Kafue allow for several safaris and, if needed, a change of base. Busanga is included only after seasonal access, the specific camp and transfer times have been confirmed. It is not a daily excursion from an arbitrary camp in central Kafue. If Busanga is inaccessible, the four nights are retained in an accessible part of Kafue and the programme is agreed in advance.
Walking outings and water activities take place only with an authorised local team, suitable conditions and the required permits. The camps, transport and activities are confirmed before booking.
Day 1. Arrival in Lusaka.
Meet and check into accommodation in Lusaka. A day for arrival, rest and an introduction to the route. No compulsory safari is planned immediately after an international flight. Night in Lusaka.
Day 2. Lusaka - Kafue.
Travel overland to the first base in Kafue. Settle in and begin getting to know the park. A short outing is possible if time allows. Night in Kafue.
Day 3. Kafue and the choice of a northern base.
Safari in Kafue. If the Busanga section has been confirmed, use this day to move to the agreed northern base, watching nature along the way. Otherwise, remain in the chosen sector of the park. Night in Kafue.
Day 4. A full day in Kafue.
A full day of wildlife watching in the chosen sector of the park. The local guide sets the morning and evening safari schedule according to conditions. Night in Kafue.
Day 5. A second full day in Kafue.
Continue exploring Kafue without adding another distant park. The final base is chosen with realistic travel time to Lusaka the next day in mind. Any necessary camp change is set out in the final programme in advance. Night in Kafue.
Day 6. Kafue - Lusaka.
Return to Lusaka and rest after the journey. This transfer is not combined with entering Lower Zambezi or catching a tightly scheduled flight. Night in Lusaka.
Day 7. Lusaka - Lower Zambezi.
Travel to the agreed Lower Zambezi base and begin exploring the Zambezi Valley. An evening activity depends on the arrival time. Night in the Lower Zambezi area.
Day 8. River and safari in Lower Zambezi.
A full day in the valley, with a game drive and a water activity according to the local team's confirmed programme. The river activity depends on water levels, weather and the operator's rules. Night in the Lower Zambezi area.
Day 9. A second day in Lower Zambezi.
Another full day for nature watching. A walking safari is possible with a guide authorised for this work. If restrictions apply, it is replaced by an agreed game drive. Night in the Lower Zambezi area.
Day 10. Return to Lusaka.
Travel overland to Lusaka. Stay in the city before the domestic flight so that catching it does not depend on completing a long road journey on the day of departure.
Day 11. Flight to Mfuwe - South Luangwa.
Fly from Lusaka to Mfuwe and transfer to the South Luangwa base. Flight times and baggage restrictions are checked before tickets are bought. A short evening safari is possible if the schedule allows. Night near South Luangwa.
Day 12. A full day in South Luangwa.
Morning and evening safaris with a local guide, with rest between outings. A full day is devoted to the Luangwa Valley without an inter-park transfer. Night near South Luangwa.
Day 13. South Luangwa on foot and by vehicle.
A second full day in the valley. With a confirmed local team and suitable conditions, a walking safari is planned alongside a game drive. Night near South Luangwa.
Day 14. Finish in Mfuwe.
Transfer to Mfuwe airport for the agreed flight. A morning safari is possible only if the schedule allows. An international departure via Lusaka must be booked with a protected connection or an extra night outside these 14 days. An extension to Malawi is priced separately.
The final package and price are being confirmed. Before booking, participants receive a written offer specifying the overnight stays, transport, meals, park fees, excursions and work of the local team. The places listed in the itinerary do not in themselves mean that every possible activity is included in the price.
Separate costs will be listed in the final offer: international and domestic flights where they are not included in the package, visa and entry costs, insurance, extra nights before and after the trip, personal expenses and optional activities. Do not buy tickets based on the provisional itinerary before the package has been confirmed.
